Luxury Hotels in Central Tokyo

Welcome to Tokyo-Hotels

Find the perfect hotel in the dynamic capital of Japan. Choose a hotel in the center near Tokyo JR Station and neighboring Ginza for travel convenience, if arriving by train.

For longer stays, consider other major Tokyo hubs on the circular Yamanote Line (山手線), such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, or Ueno (which has museums, large park, cherry blossoms, and proximity to Narita Airport 40 minutes off to the northeast).

Traditional ryokans and dozens of modern hotels are tucked into the calmer, older district of Asakusa. Budget and business lodging are plentiful in Shinagawa south of downtown, with its new Shinkansen bullet-train station.

Tokyo received over 20 million foreign visitors last year, mostly from East Asia, boosting hotel average occupancy rates to over 74%. So, if stopping for a few days for sightseeing or on your way to the Asian Games in Nagoya this September, best to reserve your hotel room in advance!

Insider Travel Tips

  • 3 types of bullet trains (shinkansen) run between Tokyo & Osaka. "Nozomi" makes 4 stops and takes just 2 hours 22 minutes. "Hikari" makes 10 intermediate stops and "Kodama" is the slowest with 15 stops.
  • Haneda airport Terminal 3 (for domestic flights) is 19 minutes from downtown Tokyo using the "Tokyo Monorail". Get on board at the Hamamatsuchō subway station (on the circular JR Yamanote line).
  • JR Narita Express (NEX) runs from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station in 60 minutes (3000 yen or use your Japan Rail Pass). JR Sobu Line (Rapid Service) is cheaper (1340 yen) but takes 90 minutes and runs hourly.
  • Another option from Narita Airport is the Keisei Skyliner, a high-speed train (40 minutes) to Keisei-Ueno Station in Ueno area of Tokyo 3 times an hour.
  • Kamakura is a delightful town 1 hour south of Tokyo. This seaside resort and center of medieval Japan has temples and Shinto shrines. Bronze Great Buddha is 700 years old. Yuigahama Beach popular with surfers.
  • Harajuku is a lively area in Shibuya. Home to youth-culture street fashion and cosplay.
  • Pack wisely before arriving. JR trains allow only 2 pieces of luggage (30 kg) and require special reservations for oversized baggage. Business hotel rooms are also compact.
  • Tokyo Origami Museum (in Sumida) offers beautiful examples plus paper dyeing. Ochanomizu Origami Kaikan (in central Tokyo near Kanda-Myojin Shrine) is bigger with artisan workshop, classes and gallery.
